Greta Thunberg, 16 years-old, is from Stockholm, Sweden. She is slightly autistic (Asperger Syndrome) and doesn’t talk much. When she does, it’s about climate change and she is as blunt as a military general when expressing herself. She convinced her parents to change their lifestyle to a more climate-friendly carbon footprint (no more international air travel for her opera singer mother, vegan diets, and so forth). She now travels by train and sailboat.
In speaking to the United Nations today, she concluded her short remarks with this message:
“You are failing us. But the young people are starting to understand your betrayal. The eyes of all future generations are upon you. And if you choose to fail us I say we will never forgive you. We will not let you get away with this. Right here, right now is where we draw the line. The world is waking up. And change is coming, whether you like it or not.”
Later, Greta encountered our President Trump at the United Nations. He did not see her, but she saw him and the look on her face mirrors what I think of the man – a greedy, stupid fool who once called the climate crisis a “Chinese Hoax.” Enjoy, if you will, what I call “The Swedish Stink Eye.”
